A Church Wedding at Waddington

Our church building is warm and welcoming and very light and airy. The acoustics are wonderful and so is the modern sound system, making the church a popular

venue for choral concerts. Churches are special places for the whole community, and there are some things about a church wedding that you just can’t get anywhere else.

But our church is so much more than simply a venue for your wedding. A church wedding will add a spiritual dimension to your marriage. You will make amazing vows, or promises, during your wedding in church.

These vows, will help you stay together and grow together. The ceremony includes God and looks to him for help and guidance. God’s blessing on this new start to your life together is the main attraction for many couples, whatever their beliefs.

Our Rector will help you to plan your wedding service, blending ancient tradition and modern experiences to reflect your story. Your wedding will be personal, memorable, meaningful and beautiful.

Frequently asked questions:

Q My partner has been married before, sadly the marriage ended in divorce, can we get married in church?
A Probably, we are happy to marry couples who have been married before, provided that the people involved were not the cause of the breakdown of the previous marriage. Talk with our Rector about this.

Q We don’t go to church but would like to get married in church, it seems important, can we get married here?
A Yes. We recognise that everyone makes their own spiritual journey, you may not want to have much involvement with your local church, but you are still welcome to come and join us. And we would love you to come and get married here!

Q We really like the church, can we get married here even if we don’t live in the parish
A Yes. Talk with the Rector and she will explain what you will need to do.

Q We don’t want to get married on a Saturday, can we have a wedding on another day?
A Yes. We can usually organise things so you can get married on the day you choose.

Q How much does it cost to get married in church?
A There is a required legal fee for marrying in a church. In 2021 this is £552 if you marry away from where you live and £506 if you marry in your home parish. This is set by the Church of England nationally and is the same for every church.

This basic legal fee includes the cost of the vicar, the church, calling your banns, a banns certificate, the marriage certificate, lighting and all administration. This required fee has ancient origins and ensures your church can maintain essential services like weddings, christenings, funerals and all kinds of other ministries for you and your community.

The statutory wedding fee doesn’t include extras you may choose, such as:
An organist - currently £80
Bell-ringers - currently £100
Church flowers beyond our normal flowers by the altar. However, it will cost you only £30 to specify the colour for these flowers. Our flower arrangers are happy to take on adding further arrangements at a very competitive price.
